Envelope canceled aboard Abbot in June 1943. Herschel J. Bonnet entered the Navy in February 1943 and joined Abbot on commissioning day, 23 April 1943. He stayed aboard throughout its entire World War II tour, and left the ship in May 1946 as a Storekeeper First Class. On the day this envelope was canceled, Abbot sailed from Portland, Maine, then conducted gunnery practice 40 miles east of Kennebunkport and returned to Portland. The censor’s initials “EMT” belong to Lt. Edward M. Tremper, who also reported aboard Abbot on commissioning day.
