The Essex-class aircraft carrier is probably Randolph (CVA 15), which between 14 July 1956 and 19 February 1957 embarked ATG-202, a training group that used tail marking X; the aircraft are probably North American AJ-1 Savages of the ATG-202 Checkertails squadron; the supply ship is Altair (AKS 32); and the destroyer seen partially in the background is Cassin Young (DD 793).
